Tammy L. Hall is a Grammy-recognized, award winning pianist/composer/educator/musical director whose career spans 40+ years. Hall has worked with a wide array of vocalists and instrumentalists, including the late Etta Jones, Ernestine Anderson and Mary Wilson; Melba Moore, Ms. Loretta Devine, Leberta Lorál, Susanne Mentzer, Marcus Shelby,Terri Lyne Carrington, Regina Carter, Houston Person, Dr. Kim Nalley, Laurie Anderson, Gerald Clayton, Mads Tolling, Linda Tillery, Vicki Randle, Holly Near, Barbara Dane, Mimi Fox and Allison Miller. Tammy is a proud resident of Seaside, CA and was recognized as a Champion of the Arts by the the Monterey Council of the Arts in 2024. This September Ms. Hall looks forward to appearances in the Monterey Symphony’s highly anticipated Love Letter to New York and the 69th annual Monterey Jazz Festival’s Garden Stage offering (for the fifth year) of her curated spiritual and gospel offering: We’ve Come This Far by Faith, in collaboration with the Texas Southern University Choir.
Leberta Lorál possesses a clarion voice with breadth of range and artistry that is technically impressive and emotionally engaging. Career highlights include the Monterey Symphony, Mendocino Music Festival, the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra, Longmont Symphony, Festival Opera, Sydney Opera House, Grace Cathedral and the African-American Art Song Alliance. Upcoming engagements include appearances with West Edge Opera, Monterey Jazz Festival and more!
Born in Salvador, Bahia and based in Santa Cruz, CA since 2003, Dandha Da Hora artistic journey began at the age of six with Ilê Aiyê, the first Afro-Brazilian Carnaval group, where she became a principal dancer and choreographer. Her career includes collaborations and appearances with renowned Brazilian artists Gilberto Gil, Caetano Veloso and Daniela Mercury. Dandha is also the lead vocalist, percussionist and founding member of the Santa Cruz-based band SambaDa. She is dedicated to uplifting and illuminating Afro-Brazilian and diasporic culture through music, dance, lectures and workshops.
Known for her musical diversity, Michaelle Goerlitz has played percussion or drums with a wide range of artists: VNote Ensemble, ‘Chelle & Friends, Som Dela, Falso Baiano, Samba Rio, Mark Levine, Tammy Hall, rhiannon, Barbara Higbie, Jami Sieber, Roger Glenn, Marcos Silva, Mimi Fox, and Ann Savoy. She was co-founder of two longterm Bay Area groups, the Blazing Redheads and Wild Mango.
A native of the Bay Area, Deszon Claiborne began his musical career at the early age of ten. Virtually self taught in the beginning, he went on to study with world-renowned drummers such as Richard Peterson, Rick Quintinal ( Chuck Brown school of Drumming ), James Levi , Ralph Humphrey and Kenneth Nash , an experience which provided him with a strong foundation in jazz, rhythm & blues and world music. He has had the pleasure to perform or record with the following artists: Peter Apfelbaum, Don Cherry, Charles Brown, Angela Bofill, Les McCann, Dr. Lonnie Smith, Robben Ford, Boz Scaggs, Greg Howe, Oz Noy, Henry Butler, Giovanni Hidalgo, Kai Eckhardt, John Handy, Taj Mahal, Donald Harrison, Jovan Jackson,Ernie Watts, Bill Bell, Jeff Chambers, Frank Martin, Carl Wheeler, Rodney Franklin Clairdee,Fred Ross, Tony Lindsay,Tony Monaco,Doug Carn,Charlie Musselwhite, Nathan East, Bob Weir, Nguyen Le, Rock Hendrix, Carl Lockett,Guthrie Govan, Azar Lawrence and many others. In addition to his performing and recording credits, Deszon is also an educator. He has taught both private and group lessons to students of all ages and levels, youth to adult, and beginning to advanced. Deszon has also participated in music education programs in the Bay Area over the last 20 years, including Berkeley Jazz School, Jazz Camp West, Stanford Jazz Camp, Lafayette Summer Music camp, Moody’s Jazz Camp, Just Say Jazz, and Adventures in Music.
Gary Brown is a skilled and versatile bassist on both acoustic and electric basses, his clear solid foundation as well as his melodic rainbow of color and counterpoint established him as a much sought after a component for major recording, performance and production projects around the world, he has brought a unique sound and approach to each and every endeavor he has been involved with. In the past 30 years, Gary has recorded and performed with such notable artist as Flora Purim & Airto, Steve Winwood, George Duke, Lyle Mays, Narada Michael Walden, Carlos Santana ,Gregg Rolie, Dianne Reeves, Roy Ayres, Ernie Watts, Jeff Beck Torninho Horta, Larry Coryell, Phararoh Saunders, Eddie Henderson, Dori Caymmi , Andy Narrell, Pete and Sheila (Sheila E.) Escovedo. Bernie Worell Patrice Rushen .Gary has composed music for film and television with Pray for Rain, a film and soundtrack production team whose credits include work for major cable networks HBO, Lifetime, Showtime and Cinemax, as well as for the major television networks ABC, NBC and CBS credits include ,the cult film Sid & Nancy, The Linguini Incident (starring David Bowie)., Straight to Hell, Trust Me, Zandalee (with Judge Reinhold and Nicholas Nicholas Cage) The Fox television series Key West. to name a few. Gary has been a teacher and educator at such schools and programs as SFJAZZ Education Program, The Oakland Public Conservatory of Music (OPC ) UC Berkley Jazz Department, Healdsburg Jazz Music in Schools Program (OJB) Operation Jazz Band and presently SFJAZZ at MCDS Marin County Day School. Gary continues to compose, perform and produce with various artists and is writing music for his first solo project.
